Cultivate your happiness for a happy, meaningful and worthy life.
Your Happiness Toolkit - Develop Your Happiness Skills
Begin your journey to true happiness by taking the Happiness Index. After taking the survey, you will get your own assessment of your happiness and well-being. The Happiness Index helps to broaden your concept of what happiness is. It helps you make actionable connections between your personal happiness, the well-being of others and the sustainability of our planet. Your scores point the direction for exploration and understanding of where setting your intention and focusing your effort will lead to your own personal flourishing and the benefit of all beings. Join the Happiness Movement in your own life, and for others and our planet by taking the Happiness Index, contemplating your scores and taking action. Use the tool below for inspiring and guiding your actions.
Your happiness is partly up to you, and partly determined by circumstances not under your control, such as your society and genetics. While some believe that the percent of your happiness that is up to you is set, other research indicates the percent of your happiness that is up to you, genetic or circumstantial is fuzzy. You can make a difference in your life and the life of those around you by cultivating your happiness.
Dr. Bliss Doctrines for Happiness
Being happy means having all of your feelings. If you block out the difficult feelings, like sadness, anger, or anxiety, they don't go away. Blocking out the difficult feelings results in a lessening of your capacity to feel real joy, contentment and calm. Use the tools in the Dr. Bliss Doctrine of Happiness toolkit to explore working with difficult feelings in healthy ways and to realize your capacity for true, full, and liberating happiness.
Happiness in the Workplace Toolbox
How happy you are at work has a significant impact on how satisfied you feel with your life and your happiness. We spend a tremendous part of our lives at work, sometimes trading our happiness for a paycheck. There are ways to increase your happiness at work by changing the environment in the workplace and other ways by changing your thought patterns. Use the tools in the Happiness in the Workplace toolkit and other toolkits to explore happiness connections in your workplace.
The Happiness - Mindfulness Connection Toolbox
The connection between happiness and mindfulness was made over 2,000 years ago by the Buddha (whose name is the word for "an awakened one" and who developed a methodology for awakening) and more recently proven through research and data by scientists. Mindfulness is the capacity to see things as they really are without judgement and with loving kindness. Developing your capacity for mindfulness leads to wisdom when you are able to see the reality of things, including your own feelings, thoughts and impulses, and take actions that are kind, ethical and helpful to you and others. This is an aspect of an awakened state. Everybody has the capacity to be an awakened one, and mindfulness is one way to awaken. Use the tools in the Mindfulness tool kit to explore ways to practice mindfulness in ways that are right for you.
Mindfulness is being defined in many different ways, all with the same meaning. Some ways mindfulness is defined are:
Happiness and the Environment Toolbox
Most people feel their happiest when in nature - whether in the garden, at a park, on a mountain, in the water, with animals, plants or elements. Not only our happiness, but our survival, depends on the ecological health of our planet. Use these tools to raise awareness about the connection between happiness and nature and to inspire action to care for our earth and other life forms.
Policy Activist Toolbox
The Happiness Movement represents the transformation of our economic system from based on economic pursuits to pursuing what really matters in life. This transformation requires the same shift in focus from use of Gross Domestic Product (the sum of all goods and services produced in a year) by government to the use of wider measures of well-being. Participation in government is needed for this transformation. Use the tools in the Policy Activist toolbox to raise awareness and take action in your home town, community and government.
Your happiness counts. You are the happiness movement.
